YPL PRIVACY POLICY

The short version
We run a youth sports league. We collect the information we need to register players, schedule matches, keep kids safe and maintain league records. We collect information about children only from their parents or legal guardians. We don't sell personal information.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
YPL's website and registration are directed to parents and guardians, not to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All player information is provided by a parent or legal guardian at registration, who consents to its collection and use as described here. A parent may review, correct or request deletion of their child's information at any time by emailing info@youthpickleballleague.com from the registered parent email. Player accounts and Passport logins are controlled by the parent.
What we collect
From parents/guardians: name, email, phone, emergency contact, relationship to player, payment confirmation (processed by Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers), waiver signature and date, and messages you send us.
About players (from parents): name, date of birth, gender (optional), jersey size, experience level, medical notes you choose to share, facility/division/block, and photos or video taken at league activities (subject to your media release choice).
Generated by the league: YPL Player ID, team, match results, YPR rating, rankings, points and achievements.
Automatically: basic web analytics (pages visited, device type, approximate location by IP). We do not run behavioral advertising on this site.
How we use it
To register and place players; schedule and communicate about matches (email and SMS); run and verify competition; maintain the Player Passport, ratings and rankings; process payments and refunds; respond to safety and medical situations; and improve the league. We may send league updates and future-season announcements; you can unsubscribe anytime.
What's public
Player first name, last initial (full name at parent's option), team, division, city, YPR, rankings, points and results may appear on standings, rankings boards and event results. Date of birth, contact details and medical notes are never public.
Who we share with
Service providers who help us operate (payment processing via Stripe, hosting via Vercel, email/SMS delivery, background-check providers for staff), host facilities for check-in and safety, and authorities when required by law. Providers may use the data only to serve YPL.
Pro Shop orders
When you buy from the YPL Pro Shop we collect your name, email and shipping address. We share them with Printful (our print-on-demand fulfilment partner) to make and ship your order, and payment details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store your card number. Order records (items, shipping address, tracking) are retained for order history, replacements and tax/accounting purposes.
Retention
League records (Player ID, results, ratings) are retained for the life of the player's YPL career because the Passport is a permanent record. Contact and medical information is retained while an account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for legal and safety purposes. Parents may request deletion of non-record data at any time.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with access controls. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as required by law.
